David finn, psy.d

Education PSY.D. in Clinical Psychology from Illinois School of Professional Psychology

Dr. Finn founded Associates in Human Development Counseling in 2000, bringing extensive expertise in clinical and forensic psychology. Specializing in domestic violence, Dr. Finn has conducted pre-sentencing evaluations, led offender groups, and trained therapists, attorneys, and judges. A contributor to the Handbook of Child Custody, Dr. Finn has also worked extensively on court-involved evaluations, including child custody, mental health, and international child abduction cases. With over 800 evaluations completed and a history of expert testimony in county and federal courts, Dr. Finn is a sought-after lecturer on child custody evaluations nationwide, sharing insights with therapists, lawyers, and judges.




When Dr. Finn is not working he enjoys spending time with his family and adventure traveling with his children who enjoy scuba diving, snow skiing, cooking and competition horseback riding.

Tanya little

Education Medical Assistant Certification from Bryman Nursing School in Chicago

Tanya has served as the Office Manager at AHDC for over 12 years. She comes to us with over 25 years of finance and office administrative experience for small businesses. Tanya ensures the administrative responsibility of the business is handled professionally and with integrity. As office manager, Tanya handles everything from staff training to general finance. 



Nowadays, Tanya joins the team remotely from Florida where she enjoys an active semi-retired life with her husband. 

Violeta Suarez Hidalgo

Education Bachelor’s degree – Criminology, minor in Sociology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. 

Master’s degree in progress – Forensic Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Violeta has served as the Executive Administrative Assistant for over five years. Working closely with Dr. Finn, Violeta manages key administrative functions and the office’s overall efficiency and success. Currently, Violeta is in her final year for her Master’s program in Forensic Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Violeta’s future aspirations include specializing in high-conflict divorce cases, court-ordered therapy, and providing individual, group, and co-parenting therapy. Her commitment to these areas reflects her dedication to supporting individuals and families through complex and challenging times.



In addition to her professional achievements, Violeta enjoys attending her boys’ soccer games, dancing, reading, and traveling, balancing her career with her personal interests and family activities.

Mark Hagler, LCPC

Education Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication (Radio-TV-Film) Wayne State University – 1987

Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology – Illinois School of Professional Psychology – 1999

Mark Hagler has been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor since 2001. He brings a solid foundation of clinical experience and forensic knowledge to Associates in Human Development.  His style is honest and direct while maintaining warmth and creating a safe environment for his clients to achieve their therapeutic goals. This work is done through Reunification therapy, Individual, Group and Family therapy with the objective of helping families navigate a path toward healing. Previously, Mark spent the first thirteen years of his psychological career as a Therapist and Clinical Supervisor at a school for children and Adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders. During the same period, he worked for six years as a Therapist at Alexian Bros. Behavioral Health Hospital with two of those years spent assessing patients in the Clinical Access Department. This was followed by fifteen years running a Sexual Offender Treatment Program while also assuming the role of Clinical Director of a Community Mental Health Agency for ten years.

Lupe hernandez

Education Master’s degree – Clinical Psychology
Doctoral degree in progress – Clinical Psychology at Midwestern University

Lupe Hernandez is a clinical psychology practicum student at AHDC. She currently has a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and is working towards a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Midwestern University. Lupe previously worked at an undergraduate research lab that focused on understanding and addressing the challenges of concealed stigmatized identities, such as belonging to the LGBT+ community, being a sexual assault survivor, and living with a chronic illness. Following that, she worked at a county court, conducting psychological evaluations for juvenile and adult offenders and providing treatment recommendations aimed at reducing their risk of recidivism. In doing so, she worked with individuals of different backgrounds, assessing a variety of concerns, including substance abuse, trauma, depression, and anxiety. Most recently, she also worked at a specialty outpatient treatment center, where she provided comprehensive dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to adolescents and adults with an array of emotional and behavioral difficulties, including personality disorders and eating disorders.

Megan Brulle

Education Bachelors’s degree – Psychology from Arizona State University

L.P.C. in progress – Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at National Louis University

Megan Brulle is a counseling intern at AHDC. She is in her final year of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at National Louis University, where she is working toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Arizona State University in 2019. She also received her Master’s degree in forensic psychology from Arizona State University in 2022. Megan has 3 years of experience as a Mental Health Associate at an inpatient psychiatric hospital working with adults with a range of mental health problems, including bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, and various psychotic disorders. Throughout her work experience, she has led groups utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to promote the development of coping skills, changes in behavior, and achievement of treatment goals. 


 

Emily Filson

Education Bachelors’s degree – Law and Social Policy from University of Alabama

L.P.C. in progress – Forensic Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology

Emily Filson is a counseling intern at AHDC, currently in her final year at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, pursuing a degree in Forensic Psychology with the goal of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Law and Social Policy from the University of Alabama and brings six years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.



Emily spent three years as a Specialized Foster Care Case Manager at Camelot Care Centers in Grayslake and most recently worked for three years at the Lake County Health Department in the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Services department as a Counselor III Crisis Counselor, and as a Substance Abuse Counselor III for the Youth Services Department. She has led individual, family, and group therapy sessions, as well as conducted crisis evaluations for psychiatric inpatient treatment. Emily has worked with clients across a wide range of psychological and behavioral issues, with a special focus on those affected by psychiatric conditions such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism, Bipolar Disorder, and Borderline Personality Disorder. 




When she is not working she enjoys traveling in the real world and in the books she reads. 

Landon finn

Education Bachelor’s degree in progress – Political Science, minors in English and Legal Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder

Landon Finn is a forensic clinical intern at Associates in Human Development Counseling, joining the team at the beginning of 2024. He will be a junior transfer student at the University of Colorado Boulder, majoring in Political Science with a double minor in English and Legal Studies. After completing his undergraduate degree, he aspires to attend law school to become an advocate for others. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends, playing with his dog, and reading.
